Best solo class for beating assassins 1x1, plus has some ranged capabilities

Looking for a class where I don't have to worry about getting jumped by assassins and also good at keep defense (has some ranged attacks).

thinking 10,15,20,etc through and movlik, 30-35...

    best for sneaks is pally on alb.no ranged tho.might as well make a caster sm/chanter so pet can chain stun enemy.(if ya have no skill that is :)
